22 C-suite appointments in March⎮2023

Here are 22 physicians who took on C-suite roles in March, as reported by Becker's.

1. Ronald Place, MD, was named regional president and CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

2. Keith Vollstedt, MD was named chief medical officer of the Western Iowa region of Des Moines, Iowa-based MercyOne, which treats patients at 230 locations throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

3. Emil Kuriakose, MD, was named chief medical officer of Terns Oncology, a division of clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Terns Pharmaceuticals.

4. Steven Kalkanis, MD, was selected as Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital's next CEO and executive vice president.

5. Aharon Sareli, MD, was named chief medical officer of Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System, and Holly Neville, MD, was appointed associate chief medical officer.

6. Stanley Fiel, MD, was named chief medical officer of Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.

7. Roger Mitty, MD, was named COO and president of Care New England Medical Group.

8. Mark Rosenblatt, MD, PhD, executive dean for the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, has been named interim CEO for the University of Illinois Hospitals and Clinics, pending approval from the board of trustees. 

9. Jay Barth, MD, was named chief medical officer of Ascidian Therapeutics, a biotech drug development company. 

10. Vanessa Carroll, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. The health system also named Barbara Thompson, MD, the CMO of its children's health network.

11. Michael Korn, MD, was named chief medical officer for oncology for medical genetics company Invitae.

12. Sean Martin, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Oscar Health, the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform.

13. Kerin Adelson, MD, joined the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as its chief quality and value officer. 

14. Ray Gensinger, MD, was appointed senior vice president and chief medical officer of Tegria, a healthcare consulting and technology services company.

15. McLaren Flint (Mich.) named Varsha Moudgal, MD, as its chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs. 

16. Lorna Gober, MD, was named chief medical officer of Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth's Northwest network. 

17. Maternova, a marketplace for maternal and neonatal medical products, selected Gabriela Salvador, MD, as its new CEO and member of its board of directors. 

18. Mill Brown, MD, was named chief medical officer of Spring Health, the developer of a digital mental healthcare platform.

19. Anita Toussi, MD, PhD, was named chief medical officer of the Centura St. Catherine Hospitals of Southwest Kansas. 

20. Srdan Verstovsek, MD, PhD, was appointed chief medical officer of Kartos Therapeutics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for patients with cancer.
