MercyOne names Western Iowa chief medical officer

Keith Vollstedt, MD, has been named chief medical officer of the Western Iowa region of Des Moines, Iowa-based MercyOne, which treats patients at 230 locations throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

Dr. Vollstedt has served as chief medical officer on an interim basis since October, according to a March 27 news release from the health system. He steps into the role with more than three decades of experience treating patients as a bariatric and laparoscopic surgeon.
