8 physician leaders in the headlines

Here are eight physician leadership updates Becker's has reported on since June 27:

  1. Elizabeth Cherot, MD, was named the president and CEO of the March of Dimes. She is the organization's first physician leader.
  2. Malissa Wood, MD, was appointed chief physician executive of the Fort Meyers, Fla.-based Lee Health Heart Institute.
  3. National services organization Endeavors appointed Priti Mody-Bailey, MD, as its first chief medical officer.
  4. David Trofa, MD, was appointed head team physician for the athletics program at Columbia University in New York City.
  5. West Virginia emergency physician Tony Kelly, MD, became the first director of the West Virginia First Foundation board, which is charged with distributing opioid settlement funds in the state.
  6. Chad Whelan, MD, was named the first physician president of Miami Valley Hospital as well as system chief operating officer.
  7. Anthony Fauci, MD, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, joined the faculty at the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
  8. Richard Blinkhorn, MD, was appointed executive vice president and chief physician executive and clinical officer of Cleveland-based MetroHealth.
