Grand River Medical Group's Cascade (Iowa) Clinic has closed following a round of layoffs that took place at the beginning of February, the Cascade Pioneer reported Feb. 28.
Cascade Clinic was formerly a West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health walk-in primary care clinic before being acquired by Grand River Medical Group in August 2023. The medical groups also acquired two other Iowa clinics at that time.
On Feb. 1, seven months after the acquisitions, Grand River Medical Group announced it was laying off 52 of its 375 employees.
The group said in a statement that the changes would result in minimal disruption for patients and not affect patient care.
In the statement, the group attributed Cascade Clinic's closure to a DNP no longer practicing at Grand River Medical Group.
