Dr. Cherot previously led the organization’s Office of Maternal and Child Health Impact, according to a July 10 news release. Before joining March of Dimes, she served as chief medical officer for Axia Women’s Health.
In this new role, Dr. Cherot will oversee the nonprofit’s strategy to address the maternal and infant health crisis across the United States, the release said.
“As a physician and mother of two children, it’s simply unacceptable that our country is among the most dangerous places to give birth among high income countries today,” Dr. Cherot said in the release. “Families are facing poor health outcomes and grave disparities, which makes our work at March of Dimes more important than ever before.”
