Former Arkansas medical board chair arrested for Medicaid fraud

An Arkansas psychiatrist who previously served as chair for the state's medical board has been arrested for two counts of Medicaid fraud, Fox affiliate KNWA reported Oct. 10.

Brian Hyatt, MD, was arrested Oct. 9 after a warrant was filed following allegations of him committing Medicaid fraud while serving as director for the behavioral health unit at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. The allegations state he purposely billed the highest billing procedure codes for patients to whom he did not provide the billed healthcare services.

Dr. Hyatt was released from Benton County Jail one hour after his arrest. His attorney has made arrangements for a bail hearing later this month in Pulaski County, the report said.
