12 recent devicemaker, health system layoffs to know

Here are 12 health system and devicemaker layoffs Becker's has reported since April 20 that physician leaders should know: 

1. Walgreens Boots Alliance is laying off 10 percent of its corporate workforce, or about 504 employees. 

2. ASC operator and physician services company Envision is laying off 329 employees. 

3. Oracle cut 3,000 jobs from Cerner. 

4. Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint hospital in Johnstown, Pa., laid off an undisclosed number of employees. 

5. Community Health Network, a nonprofit health system based in Indianapolis, plans to cut an unspecified number of jobs. 

6. Stryker plans to lay off more than 500 employees by the end of December. 

7. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has eliminated the positions of 131 employees and cut about two dozen other jobs at related Cedars-Sinai facilities. 

8. Spine and bone solution manufacturer ZimVie plans to lay off 5 percent of its global workforce in 2023. 

9. Gulfport, Miss.-based Memorial Health System has laid off fewer than 90 people, or less than 2 percent of its workforce. 

10. San Diego-based Scripps Health is eliminating 70 administrative roles. 

11. Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, recently eliminated fewer than 40 positions. 

12. Medical device company Medtronic is planning to begin layoffs in an attempt to cut costs.
