17 chief medical officer appointments in March

Here are physicians who have taken on chief medical officer roles, as reported by Becker's.

1. Emil Kuriakose, MD, was named chief medical officer of Terns Oncology, a division of clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Terns Pharmaceuticals.

2. Aharon Sareli, MD, was named chief medical officer of Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System, and Holly Neville, MD, was appointed associate chief medical officer.

3. Stanley Fiel, MD, was named chief medical officer of Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.

4. Jay Barth, MD, was named chief medical officer of Ascidian Therapeutics, a biotech drug development company. 

5. Vanessa Carroll, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. The health system also named Barbara Thompson, MD, the CMO of its children's health network.

6. Sean Martin, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Oscar Health, the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform.

7. W. Michael Korn, MD, was named chief medical officer for oncology for medical genetics company Invitae.

8. Chelsea Hospital in Michigan has appointed Fazleomar Mahmood, MD, chief medical officer. He has served in the position in the interim since December.

9. William Plauth, MD, was named chief medical officer of Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health.

10. McLaren Flint (Mich.) has named Varsha Moudgal, MD, as its chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs. 

11. Ray Gensinger, MD, was appointed senior vice president and chief medical officer of Tegria, a healthcare consulting and technology services company.

12. Lorna Gober, MD, was named chief medical officer of Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth's Northwest network. 

13. Mill Brown, MD, was named chief medical officer of Spring Health, the developer of a digital mental healthcare platform.

14. Anita Toussi, MD, PhD, was named chief medical officer of the Centura St. Catherine Hospitals of Southwest Kansas. 

15. Srdan Verstovsek, MD, PhD, was appointed chief medical officer of Kartos Therapeutics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for patients with cancer.

Here are 14 appointed chief medical officers reported by Becker's in February:

1. East Lansing-based Michigan State University Health Care named Michael Weiner, DO, as its new chief medical officer. 

2. Michele Sinopoli, MD, was appointed chief medical officer for Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare's Massachusetts market. Dr. Sinopoli will oversee Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

3. Mauro Avanzi, MD, PhD, was appointed chief medical officer of Shoreline Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing cellular immunotherapies based on induced pluripotent stem cells. 

4. Leena Gandhi, MD, PhD, was named chief medical officer of NextPoint Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on immuno-oncology through its work on the HHLA2 pathway.

5. Angela Poppe Ries, MD, was named chief medical officer of VyncaCare, a home healthcare company for patients living with serious illness.

6. Christopher Jankosky, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Neurolixis, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the treatment of psychiatric and neurologic disorders.

7. Timothy Tesmer, MD, was named the next chief medical officer of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Public Health.

8. Healthcare services organization Avita Care Solutions appointed Christopher Hall, MD, as its first chief medical officer. 

9. Andrew McNamara, MD, was selected to serve as the first chief medical officer of Trilogy Health Services, which operates nearly 130 older adult living communities in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.

10. Roger Sidhu, MD, was named chief medical officer of Treadwell Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on the treatment of patients with cancer.

11. Jessica McHugh, MD, was named chief medical officer of MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in Spokane, Wash.

12. Teaneck, N.J.-based Holy Name Medical Center named Vasantha Kondamudi, MD, as its new chief medical officer following a yearlong search.

13. Liberty (Mo.) Hospital named Chakshu Gupta, MD, its new chief medical officer.

14. Jerilyn Morrissey, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of CorroHealth, a medical consulting and analytics company.
