Physician pay in the states with the highest tax rates

Illinois is the state with the highest taxes, according to a March 4 report from personal finance website WalletHub. 

The report was based on real estate, vehicle, income, sales, excise and state and local taxes.

Here is the average annual compensation for family physicians in the 10 states with the highest taxes in the United States, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  1. Illinois: $164,490
  2. New York: $195,570
  3. Connecticut: N/A
  4. New Jersey: $174,810
  5. Pennsylvania: $232,070
  6. Kansas: $204,040
  7. Iowa: $260,900
  8. Nebraska: $267,760
  9. Ohio: $213,050
  10. Texas: $211,940
