12 new chief medical officers in May | 2023

Here are 12 physicians who took on chief medical officer roles in May:

1. James Castillo, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of DHR Health Brownsville in Texas.

2. Neenah, Wis.-based ThedaCare tapped Mira Iliescu-Levine, MD, as its chief medical officer of network development and innovation. 

3. Burkhard Blank, MD, was appointed chief medical officer and executive vice president of research and development for biopharmaceutical company MannKind.

4. Marc Rabner, MD, was named inaugural chief medical officer of Crisp Shared Services, an organization providing technology infrastructure and other core services to health information exchanges across six states.

5. Sam Amirfar, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of the Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York City.

6. Michael Le, MD, was named chief medical officer of physician-led organization WelbeHealth, a California-based program of all-inclusive care for older adults.

7. Jay Parkinson, MD, was named chief medical officer of Sana Primary Care, a health plan provider for small businesses.

8. Samir Akach, MD, was named vice president and chief medical officer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fla.

9. Chris Thomson, MD, was appointed chief medical and transformation officer of Portland-based MaineHealth.

10. David Sinclair, MD, was named chief medical officer of AdventHealth Daytona Beach in Florida. 

11. John Hall, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Kingman (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center.

12. Ariella Kelman, MD, was appointed chief medical officer of Biora Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focusing on needle-free delivery of therapeutics.
