10 physicians stepping into leadership roles

Here are 10 physicians stepping into leadership roles Becker's has reported on since Feb. 7:

  1. Dahlia Philips, MD, was named medical director of the partnership in care special needs plan for MetroPlusHealth, a health insurer that is part of New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals.
  2. Janise Whitesell, MD, became the first elected female chief of medical staff in the history of Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Health System.
  3. Samuel Johnson, MD, was appointed chair of radiology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.
  4. Harvey Castro, MD, was named chief clinical operations officer of ViTel Health, a telehealth and patient monitoring services platform provider.
  5. Healthcare services organization Avita Care Solutions appointed Christopher Hall, MD, as its first chief medical officer. 
  6. Richard Makowiec, MD, was named chief surgical officer of Synergy Health Partners, a hospital staffing and management company. 
  7. Bryan Becker, MD, was appointed national medical director of the Texas region for VillageMD, a healthcare services company with 680 practice locations across 26 markets. 
  8. Andrew McNamara, MD, was selected to serve as the first chief medical officer of Trilogy Health Services, which operates nearly 130 senior living communities in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
  9. Andrea Manyon, MD, was appointed chair of the department of family medicine at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo in New York.
  10. Jordan Berlin, MD, was appointed director of the division of hematology and oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
