Lawrence, Kan.-based LMH Health has tapped Kirk Sloan, MD, as its new chief medical officer, effective March 6. 

Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has named Brittney Urso as the administrator for its new Westlawn Neighborhood Hospital, which is set to open in March, according to a Jan. 16 report from the Rutherford County Source. 

The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network has added Taylorville (Ill.) Memorial Hospital's president and CEO, Kim Bourne, to its 2023 board of directors.

Thuy-Anh Melvin, MD, has been named physician-in-chief for Kaiser Permanente's Northern Virginia service area, Inside Nova reported Jan. 13.

Lucio Gordon, MD, has been named president and managing physician of the Fort Myers-based Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, effective Jan. 16. Dr. Gordon previously served in these roles from 2018 to 2021.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services appointed Heidi Miller, MD, as its first chief medical officer.

Benjamin Mizell, MD, has been named chief of anesthesia at Mass Eye and Ear, part of Mass General Brigham in Boston.

The CDC has appointed Nirav Shah, MD, as principal deputy director. He will become second in leadership under CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, in March.

Debra Bogen, MD, has been nominated as Pennsylvania's secretary of health by Gov.-elect Josh Shapiro, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Jan. 12.
