She first joined Kaiser Permanente as a head and neck surgeon in 2012 and stepped into her new role Jan. 1. Dr. Melvin replaced the now-retired Cheryl Keys, MD, who served as physician-in-chief for the region since 2017.
In this role, Dr. Melvin will be responsible for overseeing more than 500 physicians treating nearly 300,000 Kaiser Permanente members in 13 locations across Northern Virginia, according to the report.
