6 private equity transactions, updates to know

Here are six private equity transactions and updates to know that Becker’s reported on in February:

  1. Private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners agreed to acquire all outstanding shares of Agiliti Health, a medical technology management and service solution provider, in a multibillion-dollar transaction.
  2. U.S. Anesthesia Partners, which is backed by private equity firm Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe, will end its contracts with five Colorado hospitals due to its alleged monopoly in the state’s Denver and Durango markets.
  3. Management organization ReFocus Eye Health, which is backed by healthcare private equity investor Zenyth Partners, added eight ophthalmology practices in New Jersey to its portfolio. 
  4. Texas is the state with the most hospitals backed by private equity at 97.
  5. Private equity firms own about 460 U.S. hospitals, with 26% of those hospitals serving rural populations.
  6. The number of healthcare-focused private equity deals decreased by 16.2% in 2023.
