10 states with the most uninsured residents

Texas currently has the largest percentage of residents without health insurance, with over 15% being uninsured, according to research from injury lawyers Bader Scott based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Uninsured patients can make care more difficult for physicians and their staff members. Here are 10 states with the most uninsured residents, and the percentage of uninsured residents, according to a June 4 press release sent to Becker’s: 

1. Texas: 16.60% 

2. (tie) Georgia: 11.70% 

2. (tie) Oklahoma: 11.70% 

3. Wyoming: 11.50% 

4. Florida: 11.20% 

5. Nevada: 11.10% 

6. Alaska: 11%

7. Mississippi: 10.80%

8. Arizona: 10.30%

9. (tie) North Carolina: 9.30%

9. (tie) Tennessee: 9.30% 

10. South Carolina: 9.10%
