The donation will be used to develop an endowed chair honoring John van Nagell Jr., MD, according to a Feb. 6 release from the university. Dr. van Nagell is the medical director of the cancer center’s ovarian cancer screening program, which he started in 1987.

The donation from the Telford Foundation was matched with a $800,000 donation from UK’s Research Challenge Trust Fund, bringing the total gift to $2.4 million. The John van Nagell, Jr. chair will continue to support the goals and objectives of the cancer center, the release said.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
