Sanford Health Fargo’s physician leadership shakeup

Sanford Health Fargo (N.D.) has announced several changes to its physician leadership team, the Grand Forks Herland reported Jan. 22.

1. Doug Griffin, MD, is retiring from his position as chief physician in May. Dr. Griffin has practiced family medicine for 30 years at Sanford, including at Sanford Alexandria. He previously served as chief medical officer prior to his tenure as chief physician. 

2. Steven Briggs, MD, will take over the chief physician role in February. Dr. Briggs currently serves as CMO at Sanford Fargo and has worked with Sanford Health since 2006. 

3. Andy Burgard, MD, will serve as the next CMO at Sanford Fargo, effective in March. He has held numerous leadership positions within the system, including service chief for family medicine, chair of the Primary Care Enterprise Committee and membership on both of the Sanford Fargo Region Physician Executive Council and the Physician Leadership Council.
