Feb. 3 is National Women Physician Day. Here are 20 female physicians stepping into leadership roles that Becker's has reported on since Jan. 12:

Dr. Nike Shoyinka has been appointed medical health officer by the Ingham County, Mich., Board of Commissioners, effective Feb. 17.

Dallas-based Steward Health appointed Marisela Marrero, MD, its inaugural senior vice president for health care equity and diversity, equity and inclusion. The system also named Paul Smith president of its flagship hospital in Boston.

Charles Geller, MD, will join the team and serve as chair of cardiothoracic surgery for Brown Mills, N.J.-based Deborah Heart and Lung Center. 

Abdulla Al-Khan, MD, has been honored with the First Degree of the National Golden Medal as an achiever by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain in a ceremony Dec. 16 at Al Sakheer…

Stephen Kahane, MD, has joined the board of directors of Suki, a technology company developing AI-powered voice healthcare solutions.

Dr. Hitesh Patel has joined the executive board of Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, a private oncology practice with almost 100 practices in its network, effective Jan. 27.

Thomas Cavalieri, DO, has been selected to serve as the inaugural senior vice provost of the Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences at Rowan University in Stratford, N.J.

Humana selected Sanjay Shetty, MD, to lead its senior-focused primary care company and promoted George Renaudin from vice president to president of the group's Medicare and Medicaid department. 

Richard Lazzaro, MD, has been tapped as chief of thoracic surgery for the New Jersey-based RWJBarnabas Health Southern Region.
