Kaiser Permanente names national technology and information chief

Brian Hoberman, MD, has been added to the Permanente Federation as executive president, chief information officer and national information technology leader.

Dr. Hoberman, an internist, joined the Oakland, Calif.-based Permanente Medical Group in 1997 as one of the first hospitalists at the health system’s facility in San Francisco and has served as the leader of KP HealthConnect, the group’s inpatient EMR software, since 2016, according to an Oct. 26 news release from the Permanente Federation. 

In his new role, Dr. Hoberman will oversee technology assets, invest in new technology and advance technology risk management efforts, including cybersecurity and vendor relations, according to the release.
