BayCare names Dr. Sowmya Viswanathan chief medical officer

Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System appointed Sowmya Viswanathan, MD, as vice president and chief medical officer of its group of St. Joseph hospitals in Tampa, Fla.

Dr. Viswanathan has more than 30 years of industry experience, formerly holding positions including chief medical officer of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare’s Massachusetts and South Carolina hospitals, according to an Oct. 14 news release from BayCare. 

At BayCare, Dr. Viswanathan plans to prioritize developing and improving company initiatives, clinical operations, financial growth and patient care, according to the release.
