6 things to know about Harvard’s interim physician president

Here are six things to know about the physician president, according to his bio:

1. Dr. Garber served as provost and chief academic officer from 2011 before being appointed interim president.
2. Dr. Garber received his PhD in economics from Harvard and his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto.
3. Dr. Garber holds healthcare-focused faculty positions as the Mallinckrodt Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and as a professor of health policy and management in the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
4. Dr. Garber also teaches as an economics professor in the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences and a public policy professor in the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. 
5. Dr. Garber is an elected member of the Association of American Physicians and the National Academy of Medicine.
6. Dr. Garber is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians.
