3 physicians join NYU to build pediatric liver program

New York City-based Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at New York University Langone has added three physicians to its Hassenfeld Children's Hospital and the NYU Langone Transplant Institute to establish the Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplant Program. 

Hassenfeld added physicians Nadia Ovchinsky, MD, Jennifer Vittorio, MD, and Debora Kogan-Liberman, MD, according to an April 27 news release from the hospital. 

Dr. Ovchinsky will serve as director of the division of pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology. She is a clinical researcher focused on chronic liver disease and liver transplantation outcomes. She has worked as a liver specialist at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore in New York City since 2014. 

Dr. Vittorio has been named medical director of the Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplant Program. She specializes in transferring young adult patients to adult care. Before joining NYU, she was an associate professor in the division of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City for eight years. 

Dr. Kogan-Liberman has been named director of pediatric hepatology at NYU. She specializes in treating patients with chronic liver diseases. She has worked at several institutions in the New York area over the last 27 years, including New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System and Hackensack (N.J.) Meridian Health. 

In addition, NYU physician Adam Griesemer, MD, has been tapped as surgical director for the new Pediatric Liver Disease and Transplant Program, according to the release.
