Ten things to know about self-employed physicians:
1. Sixty-four percent of self-employed physicians say the best part of their job is the autonomy.
2. A plurality (28 percent) say the worst part of their job is managing staff.
3. Ninety-three percent believe they have unique advantages over employed physicians.
4. Eighty-one percent said their practices feel financially secure.
5. Sixty-five percent of self-employed physicians are either satisfied or very satisfied with their incomes.
6. Fifty-three percent are concerned or very concerned that uncontrollable events will affect their income.
7. Eighty-one percent said that their hours are generally predictable.
8. Almost half (49 percent) believe that their work-life balance is better than employed physicians.
9. Only 33 percent believe that their administrative duties are too much to handle.
10. Twenty-five percent of self-employed physicians questioned their career choice during COVID-19.
