Aledade has added 450 primary care practices, including 60 health centers, to its network in 2023, making it the largest network of independent primary care providers in the country.

A bill introduced in the New Mexico Senate looks to allocate $7.5 million to the Higher Education Department to address the state's physician shortage, CBS and Fox affiliate KRQE reported Feb. 8. 

Renaissance Physicians Partners announced it's seeking to acquire independent providers in the Houston area with the support of Capital Group for Better Health, a joint venture between CareAllies and Renaissance Physicians Organization.

Increased autonomy and potential income growth are big draws for physicians interested in going into private practice, and the American Medical Association shared tips to help make that transition work. 

Forty-six percent of independent physicians saw income reduction in 2022, compared to 23 percent of employed physicians, according to the Physicians Foundation's "2022 Survey of America's Physicians," released Nov. 15.

The American Medical Association laid out seven key tips for starting a private practice in an Oct. 24 blog post:
