Biden administration to address rural health needs: 4 things to know

The Biden administration has proposed an action plan focusing on the improvement of health services in rural communities and assisting rural healthcare providers to stay open.

Here are the four actions included in the plan, according to a Nov. 3 news release from the administration:

  1. Build on the Affordable Care Act and Inflation Reduction Act in order to increase access to affordable health coverage and care across rural communities.
  2. Help rural hospitals stay open in the long run to provide critical services in their communities by funding small rural hospitals and Medicare-certified rural gealth clinics.
  3. Increase the rural health workforce, including for primary care and behavioral health providers.
  4. Support access to essential care across rural communities, including behavioral health and telehealth services.
