If physician burnout is not addressed, more physicians will continue to leave practice before retirement age, exacerbating the impending physician shortage, the American Medical Association said in a Sept. 27 blog post. 

Joshua Glauser, DO, a physician at Baptist Health Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital, must pay $20 million to the family of a patient who died while being treated for acute pancreatitis, Palm Beach Post reported Sept. 14.

An amicus brief filed Sept. 6 by the California Medical Association and the American Medical Association states that licensed allopathic and osteopathic physicians in California should be the only practitioners allowed to use the title "Dr."
