Dr. Jones will participate in the Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog, which aims to simulate what NASA crew members could experience in a mission to Mars. For this study, he and three other volunteers will spend a year in a 3D-printed habitat.
While in this habitat, the participants will perform a variety of mission activities, including simulated spacewalks, exercise and crop growth. Dr. Jones, who found the opportunity through an advertisement, will serve as medical officer for the mission, which begins in June in Houston.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 18–20 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
