Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health has acquired fellow Fort Myers provider Gardner Orthopedics, expanding its orthopedic and musculoskeletal care services across the region.

All 75 Gardner Orthopedics employees, including five physicians, nurses, physical therapists, medical assistants and administrative staff, joined Lee Health as part of the acquisition. The orthopedic practice’s location will remain open, according to an Aug. 3 news release.

The acquisition expands Lee Health’s musculoskeletal service line, adding Gardner Orthopedics to its existing team of orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists and rehabilitation specialists. The practice is known for offering same-day appointments for patients with injuries, joint pain, sports-related conditions and other musculoskeletal concerns.

Lee Health said patients will continue receiving care from the same providers and staff while gaining access to the health system’s broader network of specialty and coordinated care.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
