Dr. Nike Shoyinka appointed medical health officer of Michigan county

Dr. Nike Shoyinka has been appointed medical health officer by the Ingham County, Mich., Board of Commissioners, effective Feb. 17.

In this role, Dr. Shoyinka will be responsible for the direction and strategic vision of the Ingham County Health Department, according to a Feb. 2 release. She will also oversee the department’s 375 staff members and 12 federally qualified health centers.

Dr. Shoyinka steps into the role after serving as medical director for both Ingham and Ionia County Health Departments. She replaces Linda Vail, who will be retiring after leading the department for nine years.
