Physicians overwhelmingly say healthcare mergers and acquisitions tend to make their work harder, according to Medscape’s Doctors on Healthcare M&A Report” released Dec. 2. 

Medscape surveyed 1,007 physicians across 29 specialties between May 5 and July 2.

Quality of patient care after M&A

  • Improved: 12%
  • Worsened: 43%
  • Stayed the same: 45%

Patient access to care after M&A:

  • Improved: 24%
  • Worsened: 39%
  • Stayed the same: 37%

Business operations after M&A:

  • Improved: 20%
  • Worsened: 44%

Physician job satisfaction after M&A:

  • Improved: 6%
  • Worsened: 70%
  • Stayed the same: 24%

Patient one-on-one time after M&A:

  • Improved: 6%

Resources physicians need to do their job:
