Emory Healthcare Physician Division names president

Penny Castellano, MD, has been appointed president of the Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare Physician Division and interim director of Emory Clinic.

Dr. Castellano has been with Emory for over three decades, previously serving as division director for general gynecology and obstetrics and vice chair for clinical affairs, according to a Dec. 6 news release. 

She currently serves as associate director and chief medical officer for Emory Clinic and Emory Specialty Associates, as well as teaching as a professor with the department of gynecology and obstetrics, which she served as interim chair for on two occasions.

In this new role, Dr. Castellano will serve as the physician liaison between Emory Healthcare and Emory University School of Medicine and will begin taking on all the current responsibilities of the chief medical officer role for Emory Healthcare in January.
