Kaiser Permanente taps Dr. Paul Minardi to be new nonprofit CEO

Paul Minardi, MD, has been named the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the Kaiser Permanente Foundation, according to a release. Dr. Minardi assumes the role with more than 36 years of experience in medicine, most recently serving as the executive medical director for the Washington Permanente Medical Group.

The KP Foundation is a nonprofit organization in the Colorado and Washington state markets created to manage ambulatory care markets. Through the foundation, the two state’s medical groups will have more responsibility and accountability with the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan.

In his new role, Dr. Minardi will focus on supporting the delivery of affordable healthcare and will serve on the KP Medical Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, he will work to further develop relationships with organizations in Kaiser Permanente markets outside of Colorado and Washington. 

Apart from his time at the Washington Permanente Medical Group, Dr. Minardi has experience as the executive vice president of finance and strategy for the Permanente Federation. He also has served as the medical director of business management for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group.
