The report polled 1,017 physicians across more than 29 specialties from May 4 to June 15.
Here are the reasons physicians said they would continue to work past their late 60s:

- Medicine is my passion: 35%
- Medicine is my identity: 31%
- Don’t anticipate having enough money saved to retire earlier: 26%
- Nothing captures interest like medicine: 25%
- Concern for patients’ well-being: 23%
- Other: 13%
