University of Idaho, Utah expand medical education with new program

The University of Idaho in Moscow is developing a regionally based undergraduate medical education program in collaboration with the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah. 

According to a Feb. 27 news release, the partnership is a result of unanimous approval by the Board of Education and alignment with HB 368 passed during the 2025 legislative session.The program will focus on training Idaho residents, with classroom instruction and clinical rotations taking place in the state.

Students will sign a Return to Practice agreement committing to at least four years of medical practice in Idaho after residency or repaying the state’s investment.
