These numbers come from Medscape’s “Employed Physicians Report 2023.” The report included responses from 1,003 physicians across more than 29 specialties. Responses were collected from March 10 to May 31.
57 percent: The percentage of employed physicians who are satisfied or very satisfied with their income.
56 percent: The percentage of employed physicians who said what they like most about their job is that they don’t have to run a business.
56 percent: The percentage of employed physicians who said what they like least about their job is less autonomy.
51 percent: The percent of employed physicians whose paperwork duties increased in the past year.
32 percent: The percent of employed physicians who are compensated by base salary, productivity targets and other performance metrics.
