In a Nov. 6 article and infographic, Medscape details the three best and worst aspects of working in an employed position as a physician. The findings correlate with those in Medscape’s Employed Physicians Report 2025.
Overall, three in every four physicians in the survey saw more advantages to private practice when compared with employment or saw it as a “toss up.”
The three “best” things about physician employment, according to the report are:
1. Predictable income
2. Not having to worry about running a business.
3. Work-life balance.
The three “worst” things about employment were:
1. Autonomy is low
2. Less potential income upside
3. Burdensome workplace rules
