Male primary care physicians made 19 percent more than their female counterparts, down from the average of 25 percent more over the past few years. Male primary care physicians averaged $286,000 annually, compared to $239,000 annual compensation for female primary care physicians.
Meanwhile, male specialists made 27 percent more than female specialists, down from 31 percent more last year and 33 percent the year before. Men earned an average of $415,000 annually, while female specialists earned $327,000.
