Most physicians would take a pay cut for better work-life balance

Fifty-four percent of physicians would take a pay cut for better work-life balance, according to Medscape’s “Physician Lifestyle & Happiness Report 2024.”

The report included 9,226 respondents across more than 29 specialties.

The number has stayed relatively consistent over the past several years. In the 2023 report, 53% of physicians said they’d take less pay for better work-life balance, while 55% said they would in the 2022 report.
