Atlanta physician switches to $100-per-month care model

Atlanta-based family medicine physician Nick Beaulieu, MD, has shifted his practice to a fee-based system: unlimited care for $100 a month, Fox affiliate WAGA reported Feb. 13.

His practice, Highland Urgent Care and Family Medicine, switched to this program Dec. 1, announcing he would no longer accept private insurance.

Dr. Beaulieu is a member of Pear'd, a network of six primary care clinics that have switched to the fee-based model.

Primary care providers in this model are reimbursed on a fee-for-service model, based on the number of patients they treat and the number of procedures they perform.

Dr. Beaulieu's model does not include specialists, and his patients still need coverage for major medical emergencies, the report said.
