Noncompete agreements affect up to 45 percent of primary care physicians, according to a June 12 news release from the AMA. These agreements most often impact recently graduated trainees who could have opportunities for career advancement limited by noncompetes.
“Allowing physicians to work for multiple hospitals can enhance the availability of specialist coverage in a community, improving patient access to care and reducing health care disparities,” AMA board of trustees member Ilse Levin, DO, said in the release.
