Minneapolis-based Allina Health and Doctors Council-SEIU have reached a tentative agreement on a first union contract for physicians at Allina Health Mercy Hospital’s Unity and Mercy campuses in the Minneapolis area.
“We are pleased to share that Allina Health and Doctors Council SEIU reached a tentative agreement,” the health system said in a statement shared with Becker’s. “The agreement is subject to ratification by union membership.”
The three-year agreement covers more than 150 physicians, including hospitalists, OB-GYNs, psychiatrists and critical care physicians, according to a union news release shared with Becker’s. It was reached late Sept. 22 during the parties’ 66th bargaining session, days after a four-day strike concluded.
The union said highlights include a grievance process, language on professional autonomy, release from noncompete agreements in the case of layoff, and transparency on compensation models.
The physicians voted to unionize in 2023, and bargaining has continued for more than three years, according to the release. A ratification vote is expected in the coming days.
