Stratford, Conn.-based Northeast Medical Group is a physician and associated provider group affiliated with Yale New Haven Health, which is the owner of several hospitals in Connecticut, including Bridgeport Hospital.

The two groups allegedly submitted claims to the federal Medicare and Connecticut Medicaid programs for physician rate services provided by advanced practitioners, whose services are reimbursed at lower rates, at Bridgeport Hospital, according to a May 9 news release from the Office of the Attorney General for Connecticut.

The alleged false Medicare and Medicaid claims were revealed through a lawsuit filed by a whistleblower. Northeast Medical Group and Yale New Haven Health have agreed to pay $560,178 to resolve these allegations, of which the whistleblower will receive 19 percent.
