A Washington physician has had his license restricted after the state’s medical commission found he prescribed ivermectin to five patients for COVID-19, The Chronicle reported July 26.
The Washington Medical Commission said Guito Wingfield, MD, who is based in Centralia, prescribed the drug without documenting sufficient rationale, without informing the patient that the medication was off-label and without performing an appropriate risk analysis.
The order restricts Dr. Wingfield from prescribing ivermectin for non-FDA-approved indications and from prescribing medication or providing care without first establishing a physician-patient relationship, the report said.
