Dr. Colleen Swank: AI and machine learning is a physician trend worth watching. I think today’s physicians are sitting at a crossroads where technological advancements can not only improve patient care but also improve physician efficiency and decrease time on tasks such as writing notes and making preauthorization requests. We will see physicians increasingly incorporating AI and machine learning into practices. The physicians and healthcare systems who do this well will see advances in patient care and outcomes and hopefully improvement in physician satisfaction because they are spending more time with the patient and less time on mundane tasks.
