The most notable healthcare 'career crash' of 2023, per Forbes

From healthcare CEOs to talk show hosts, Forbes identified the most notable career crashes of 2023, including former Walgreens CEO Rosalind Brewer.

Ms. Brewer landed the job of Walgreens CEO in March 2021, previously serving as COO of coffee giant Starbucks.

Formerly, she held the title of CEO at Walmart's Sam's Club. Less than three years after her Walgreens appointment, Ms. Brewer and the board "mutually agreed" to part ways in September, according to the Dec. 26 report.

Under Ms. Brewer's leadership, the health retail giant experienced an earnings target cut, struggles with staff shortages that cut back on pharmacy hours, and a declining stock price.

As of early December, Walgreens was the worst-performing stock in the Dow Jones Industrial Average for 2023.

It fell 48% over Ms. Brewer's tenure, compared with a 5% fall for rival healthcare giant CVS during the same time period.
