CMS has rolled out several Quality Payment Program deadlines and exception application opportunities that are soon approaching, according to the agency’s QPP website timeline.

Here are three dates and processes physicians should pay close attention to:

1. Physicians and group practices have until June 11 to preview with 2024 Merit-based Incentive PAyment System performance data before it is publicly posted in the Provider Data Catalog and on clinician and group profiles within the Medicare.com compare tool.

2. CMS is also now accepting 2026 QPP exception applications through Dec. 31, 2026. These applications aim to support providers and Alternative Payment Model Participants that are unable to fully meet MIPS reporting requirements.

3. The MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception Application and the MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Exception application are the two types available for physicians and groups. To apply for either exception, participants should sign into the QPP Exceptions Application page using their HARP account, select “Exceptions Application,” click “Add New QPP Exception,” and choose the appropriate exception type.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
