Dr. Caldwell died on Oct. 26. He graduated from High Point (N.C.) University and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., before completing his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also completed a hematology and oncology fellowship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
He moved to Danville, Va., in 1986, where he established Danville Hematology and Oncology, and practiced there for 24 years. He relocated to Maine in 2010, where he worked at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewison from 2010 until his retirement in 2016.
