How hospitalists maintain happiness and mental health

Hobbies including cooking and reading are the most helpful for helping physicians maintain happiness and good mental health, according to Medcape’s 2023 “Hospitalist Lifestyle and Happiness Report,” which was drawn from a survey of over 9,200 physicians across 29 specialties.

The top ways hospitalists maintain happiness and mental health:

1. Activities and hobbies including cooking and reading: 73 percent 

2. Exercising: 66 percent 

3. Spending time with friends and family: 62 percent 

4. Eating better: 50 percent 

5. Getting sleep: 42 percent 

6. Therapy: 14 percent
