The average hospitalist compensation reached $321,000 this year, with slightly higher wages for hospital-based specialists ($341,000) than hospital-based primary care physicians ($288,000).
Over half of hospitalists (58%) believe that physicians in America are underpaid, while an additional 37% believe their salaries are just right.
About half (51%) of hospitalists believe that their personal workload warrants their salary ranges.
