The award was determined by a three-member panel of arbitrators from the American Arbitration Association, according to a May 2 news release from Envision. The award compensates Envision for United Healthcare’s breach of contract for unilaterally reduced reimbursement to Envision clinicians.
“While we are very pleased with the outcome, it should not take five years to get paid for the lifesaving care our clinicians provide,” Envision CEO Jim Rechtin said in the release. “We currently have three other lawsuits against UnitedHealthcare, which will likely take several more years to resolve. It is challenging to create a stable environment for our teams when health plans choose not to pay their bills.”
